This Dramatic Portrait
In the struggle between faith and wealth, it's a knockout win for Mammon in this director's wonderfully garish biopic regarding the shamed televangelist and her felon spouse. Andrew Garfield plays the corrupt Bakker, who proclaims at the beginning, claiming divine approval for wealth. Both individuals commence monetising the people's spiritual convictions. It's a spectacle of poor styling, overdone appearance and insincerity, though the lead actress manages to depict the character in a likable light. October 14th, 1.15am, on Film4
